Mindful managers make mindful decisions: Fostering a supportive and safe workplace

Updated: 1 day ago

Last week we hosted a day-long proactive mental health training workshop for our management and supervisor staff, provided by the team from Mindsafe.

Managers and Supervisors attended the one-day Mindsafe workshop

The workshop focused on how to create a safe and healthy work environment for all as well as building our own lasting mental vitality that will better equip us to support the well-being of our team.

Break-out sessions included role-playing difficult conversations to empower staff with the skills to approach topics like mental health with empathy and understanding when needed.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that while 42.9% of adults had experienced mental health in their lifetime with 21.5% suffering a 12-month or longer mental disorder, just 12.9% of males sought treatment from a health professional (21.6% for females).

This highlights the need to provide a work environment that ensures all of our staff feel safe and supported in the workplace, with resources available at their disposal that encourage seeking professional support when required.

We are committed to a safe and supporting environment and providing this training is just one way that we embed these principles into our team culture here along with other initiatives like our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
